Last Friday October 15, 2010 I attended the Amelia Island Plantation Community Association Meeting. Here is a brief recap of what went on.
The meeting started with a review of all the committees within the association. Members of the audience were given a brief outline of the work done by each committee and invited owners to volunteer to assist with this important committee work.
Mary Brannan, the President of our SAISSA (South Amelia Island Shore stabilization Association), which overseas the beach re nourishment and monitors the erosion of the shore gave a brief overview of the up coming beach re nourishment proposed for the summer of 2012.
Ron Kolar briefed the community on the past and upcoming road projects in and around the community. Of particular interest was the news about the current re-paving project of the Amelia Island Parkway from the south end of the island to the traffic circle at Gerbing Road. Ron discussed the status on the traffic circle plans to be located at the north end of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. This will provide easy access to property owners on the east and west sides of the north end of the community in addition to improving traffic safety at this intersection.
